To a Naturopath, it is the body chemistry of the extra–cellular fluids and the relationship of pH, resistance, and reduction-oxidation potential. Extra-cellular fluid is the internal body chemistry in which all cells exist and interact. The Biological Terrain can be measured through blood, saliva, pulses, electrical measurement, body palpation, observation of tongue, urine, feces, and much more.

The Biological Terrain is the "soil" from which our health comes forth. It constantly changes and adjusts to the demands that we place upon our body systems.
