Vitamin C IVs for Good Health

by suppressing the formation of nitrosamines and kiones, which are known to cause cancer.

Vitamin C and Cardiovascular Disease

Arteriosclerosis, or clogged blood vessels, is caused by the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Vitamin C’s anti-oxidant properties help prevent oxidative damage to LDL. Vitamin C also increases the amount of HDL, or good cholesterol, in the body and helps lower the amount of total cholesterol. Studies have linked high blood pressure with low levels of vitamin C.

Vitamin C and MS

Scientists Konnie Knox and Donald Carrigan have discovered a virus called HHV-6. They found correlations between the virus and incidences of AIDS, chronic fatigue syndrome, childhood brain and blood disorders, some cancers, and multiple sclerosis. The virus attacks vital organs. In MS cases, it attacks the nerves and nervous system. As detailed in the book The Virus Within by Nicholas Regush, patients whose multiple sclerosis is related to the presence of the HHV-6 virus responded favorably to anti-viral treatments. Vitamin C is a powerful anti-viral and can help rid the body of viral infections that orthodox medicine has difficulty treating.

Vitamin C and the Immune System

Dr. Linus Pauling, winner of two Nobel Prizes, was the first to hail vitamin C as the cure for the common cold. He and his wife took 3 grams of vitamin C every day. Vitamin C works as an antibiotic and anti-viral agent that, unlike pharmaceuticals, has no harmful side effects. Vitamin C bonds with viruses to form a compound that the body can easily eliminate. It also aids the immune system by making cells more permeable so that immune factors can enter with greater ease.

Vitamin C and Allergies

Allergies are caused by the body’s

immune defenses attacking particles that are actually harmless to the body. The body produces histamine to fight allergens, and histamine causes inflammation, congested sinuses, achy joints, and puffy eyes.

Vitamin C is a natural anti-histamine because it detoxifies histamine, helping to reduce the severity of allergy symptoms. By similar means, it helps reduce asthma.

Vitamin C and Detoxification

When the body has as much vitamin C as it needs to function, excess amounts remain in the blood stream. There, vitamin C works as a detoxifier, attacking contaminants. It helps reduce the symptoms such as head ache, body aches, and fatigue that often accompany detoxification. It also supports the liver, which is the main organ for cleaning toxins out of the body.

Vitamin C can be a great tool to help a person stop smoking because it reduces withdrawal symptoms. Vitamin C is also beneficial when having mercury amalgam fillings replaced. The mercury released into the body during the removal procedure and the detoxification process afterwards can be very stressful to the body. Vitamin C helps remove the mercury released into the blood stream and minimize any discomfort.

Vitamin C and Cataracts

Free radicals are the major cause of cataracts and macular degeneration. As with many other conditions of aging, free radicals attack the cells and cause damage that accumulates over time. By attacking free radicals, vitamin C halts or slows their attack on the eyes and the development of cataracts.

The Best Way to Take Vitamin C

Did you know that along with a few other mammals, humans are one of the only living creatures that do not produce vitamin C? We must get all the vitamin C our bodies need from outside sources.

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. This means that, unlike with

fat soluble vitamins where the body stores any excesses, surplus vitamin C is easily flushed out by the body, and there is virtually no fear of taking too much. Taken orally, however, doses must be limited by what the gastrointestinal tract can handle. Because vitamin C is very acidic, high doses taken orally can irritate the stomach. However, in order to achieve maximum detoxification and antiviral effects, you must have more vitamin C than the body absorbs and uses. The higher the level of excess vitamin C in the bloodstream, the more effective the vitamin will be at fighting off cancer cells, germs, toxins, free radicals, and histamines.

The most effective way to achieve high levels of vitamin C in the blood is to take it intravenously. Because it does not travel through the digestive system, it causes no stomach or bowel irritation. Also, taking vitamins through an IV assures that they will be assimilated, which cannot be guaranteed with an oral dose. People who are ill or have high levels of stress—the ones who need vitamin C the most—are least able to absorb it through their digestive system.

At the Bolles Clinic, patients can receive IV treatments of vitamin C in 50 gram doses. The vitamin C used is BeTac, a high quality vitamin C derived from beets. Nearly all of the vitamin C manufactured in the world is derived from corn, which is the second most common allergen in the United States. Corn is also likely to be high in genetic mutation due to the amount of genetic engineering and pesticides used on it. Studies have shown BeTac to be far superior to corn-derived vitamin C at killing cancer cells.

Dr. Go recommends that patients with acute problems receive vitamin C IVs three to five times a week. Because the body does not produce or store its own supply of vitamin C, she recommends a maintenance and preventative regime of at least one vitamin C IV per month for those in good health and suggests increasing the frequency during allergy and cold seasons.
